Julia Chard

I'm Julia, and I joined the Fromeside Benefice as Associate Minister in February 2017.
I trained at Trinity College, and was ordained in 2011, following being licensed as a Lay Minister in 1999. During those years between serving as a lay minister and being ordained priest, I assisted the Diocese in various roles one being a Sub Warden to Readers, and also trained as a Spiritual Director.

I enjoyed working alongside others in Downend, Frenchay and Soundwell churches, and during my adult life, I've been blessed with my links with people on the fringes of the church - in particular making connections with young families through Baptism Preparation, Messy church and pastoral care.

Prior to my involvement with church I trained as a fashion and lingerie designer, and worked for many years as a dressmaker of special occasion clothes.

Last year during my extended study leave, I attended a fresh expressions course whilst helping at Fromeside, Kingswood and Hanham churches in their vacancies.

Looking back I found faith in my twenties through personal loss. Seeking answers I entered a church in St.George, and never looked back. My strength is continually renewed through prayer and healing that I enjoy sharing with others.

My home is in Downend with hubby Julian; we have two married daughters and four young grandchildren which keep us busy but very blessed!
