About Us

Fromeside Benefice of Churches: open communities
journeying in faith, living in hope, acting in love.

We are a Benefice formed in July 2016 from the four parishes of All Saints’ Winterbourne Down, St Michael’s Winterbourne, St James the Less Iron Acton and St Peter’s Frampton Cotterell.

We are now continuing our journey as a group of distinct parishes working together for the Kingdom of God in this beautiful part of his world.  Our outlook is that of a strong family unit made up of four parts each with their own style of worship, but working to support each other and the Benefice as a whole.

Under the leadership of Rev. Malcolm Strange we are planning for the future with renewed enthusiasm. Initially we were able to work on common initiatives, i.e Administration, Common Baptism and Marriage policies. Baptism and Marriage preparation groups are in place and have proved a great success. As we have become more established we have been able work together on pastoral matters, safeguarding policies, youth work, hosting Family Fun Days and establishing a new Messy Church. We are able to support the five local primary schools in our area, also conducting weekly assemblies in each of them. We are now part of a Mission area with Yate and we are learning from each other, responding to local opportunities and needs as they arise.
