We, at St Michael’s, are committed to helping to preserve the environment in which we all live. To this end, we now have fully electric heating in both our church buildings, including heat pumps in St Michael’s Community Centre (SMCC). We maintain the churchyard in a way that benefits wild flowers, birds and animals and have an area to encourage pollinating insects at SMCC. The church flower arranging team are working to make their displays fully sustainable by using locally grown flowers as far as possible and avoiding the use of damaging floral foam. There are regular items in the church magazine on environmental issues to encourage readers to think and act appropriately. We are members of the Ecochurch scheme and so far have achieved a Bronze award. We are working towards Silver.

Bellringers St Michael’s has a ring of 6 bells all cast by William Evans of Chepstow in 1757. We ring for services on Sundays at 10am and practice on Tuesdays at 7.30, sharing our practice with Frampton Cotterell to ensure that we have a good number so that all members can progress their ringing skills. We are always keen to teach new ringers so please contact the Benefice Office if you would like to find out more. |

Choir We have a small but dedicated choir who work to sustain the musical traditions of the church. We join with the choirs of the other Benefice churches for more challenging work on 5th Sunday Benefice services and for special events. New members are always welcome so please contact the Benefice Office for more information. |

Churchyard team A small but enthusiastic team meet on a Saturday morning about every 3 weeks during the growing season. We try to keep the churchyard tidy but also follow the aims of St Michael’s by allowing wild flowers to grow freely around the church during the spring and summer. Snowdrops flourish in February, followed by primroses in March and April, other flowers follow and in July and August all is cut. New volunteers are always welcome and they are not all male - this photo was taken by one of the female members! |
